Unexpected Hidden Criteria in clearing of Waiting List for Nursery Admissions

Location/place: New Delhi

Name of company/service: Summerfields School, Kailash Colony

Dear Sir,

The Second List of Summerfields School was out on 7th Feb 2012 for Nursery Admissions.

They had taken 20 students on the basis of Alphabetical Order out of 45 students in their first waiting list. The second list is with me in which they shortlisted students with initials
from A to I.

As per this list, no parents should name their child with initials like Z, Y, X, & so on. All the children should have their name initials A or B than only this school can admit the child from first waiting list, which is not at all fair.

It is not at all a competitive or probability criterion (it should have been on basis of lucky draw as mentioned on your website).
Criteria is also with me.

As per my knowledge as per RTE Section for other than EWS category.
“In which it is clearly mentioned that in respect of unaided schools and specified category schools, and for all the seats in aided
schools, each school should formulate a policy under which admissions are to take place. The Policy should be placed by the school in public
domain, given wide publicity and explicitly stated in the school prospectus. Admission should be based strictly on this basis.”

“Also in other text (I have the text but can not attache here) about Delhi Govt. Guidelines for Nursery admissions, as per Education Ministry all the schools have to inform about their Selection Criterion to Directorate of Education with the details of such criteria and give wide publicity to the same.”

I still wonder where this school had publicize this criterion of selection by Alphabetical Order for Second List.

Kindly Advise what a parent can do in this case.

Thanks & Regards,
Jai Arora
