Payment of claim not done by ICICI Lombard GIC Ltd.

Hi,

This is to bring to your information that I was availing a two wheeler insurance provided by ICICI Lombard General Insurance company. On the basis of that insurance I have gone through servicing of my bike and I got changed some of the part of my bike which are under insurance coverage which got damaged in an accident. The team from ICICI Lombard inspected the vehicle in the workshop M/s RAJIV RAJ BAJAJ, Dilshad Garden, New Delhi on 1/8/11 and found the claim genuine and agreed upon those changes. Afterward, I made the payment to the workshop and the workshop sent the claim amount to ICICI Lombard for clearance of those amount which could have paid to me. After that I got a letter from ICICI lombard dated 12.8.11 saying, ‘Your vehicle was inspected by our surveyor at the workshop in respect of the above mentioned claim. Based on scrutiny of documents produced by you and recorded available with us it was found that the insurance policy produced by you was cancelled due to premium cheque bounce. Hence we are unable to process the claim and ICICI Lombard GIC Ltd. shall not have any liability in respect to the subject claim & the matter is being treated as closed.’
It was very surprising for me because the same policy no was updated in their web site, I have confirmed from their call center representative who said that this policy is active and the most interesting part is that I haven’t purchased that policy through cheque, I got that through their online services for which I have made the payment through my ICICI credit card. The insident was followed by lot of mails and calls repeatedly done by me (I have all the records of mails with me) and then in last month (May, 2012) I have been called by one of their representative Mr. Kushal Verma saying they need all the documents (policy paper, driving licence and the bill provided by the workshop) again. I have submitted then again to their office in Dilshad Garden, New Delhi. But in the first week of June I got a call again from Kushal repeating the same thing that they are not able to find my policy account in their record.

I want to lodge a case against them keeping in view that at this moment it is very small amount, but what would have happened if I would have lost my life, or I would have lost any part of my body in any accident. I had carring the Policy which they have provided through mail through out the year, all the person from traffic police who inspect these documents never objected of this insurance policy, neither I got any intimation from ICICI Lombard end saying that your policy is invalid, it only comes when I have made the claim. I believe this is a very big cheating done by ICICI Lombard with me and they have harassed me more than an year.

Kindly do the needful for my case.
