I have approached icici bank, the area police, Commossioner Police, Delhi & Mumbai, cybercell, Banking Ombudsman and other concerned authorities, but could not get justice. Please help
THE TEXT OF THE COMPLAINT IS AS FOLLOWS
Sub: Fraudulent transfer of funds from bank account
This is to report to you that I have a savings bank account (No 000701015236) with icici Bank located at Phelp Building , Connaught Place, New Delhi-01.
On June 21, 2011 at 14.25 hrs a sum of Rs 99,999.00 was fraudulently transferred from my account through internet Banking. This transfer occurred when I received a call from telephone number 022-64481486 at the specified time with the caller claiming to be from ICICI bank promising additional online security to my account and asking for my Unique Reference Number (URN) sent through an earlier sms. This sms stated that I should add “Santok Balulal Kumavat’’ as a payee on my account. The caller said that this was a way to check the security measures.
As Soon as I shared the URN number with the caller, the Money Transfer of Rs. 99,999/- was made from my S.B.a/c No. 000701015236 to a/c No. 040801502142 of icici bank in the name of Sh. Santok Balulal Kumavat (of Grad Enterprises, 1,Kailash Plaza, Plot No. 60, Sector 2A, Kopar Khairne, Navi Mumbai 400709 Phpne No.0227873527 Mobile No. 9867857446 –DETAILS AS GIVEN BY THE ICICIBANK) and I received the fund transfer sms from the bank with the transfer details (Infobill*000233371959 bill *NST).
Sensing foul play, I approached the nearest ICICI bank at Sector 1, Noida and reported the matter to them. The complaint number is SR180702547. copy attached.
The matter was reported to the Police at Police Station, Connaught Place , New Delhi recorded as 566 LC. Dated 22/06/2011. copy attached.
The Complaint alongwith the enquiry report of ACP/Con.Place was forwarded from ACP New Delhi to The Commissioner Of Police, Mumbai vide No. 432-433 SCSC/NDD NEW DELHI Dated 14/09/2011 Copy attached.
The Bank has not been helpful to me in this regard and no progress of the findings/investigations are conveyed and I have been helplessly suffering on this a/c.
THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY POSITIVE MOVE TO MY CONSOLATION FROM THE BANK SIDE SO FAR.
I HAVE MAILED MY GRIEVENCES EVEN TO The Bank Chairman- Ms Chanda KOCHHAR.
I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF ” ALL THE SAFETY MEASURES”-
1) Onetime Password sent on Mobile only for internet Banking if the a/c can be operated w/o it. (Not disclosed to anyone)
2) Password for internet Banking ( “ )
3) Transaction password – ( “ )
4) Credit / debit card numbers. digits required to confirm the transaction ( “ )
5) foolproof security measures taken by the Bank who is the custodian of public money.
6) What is the purpose of KYC from all a/c holders?
7) What is the purpose of Introduction/ Witnesses while opening an account?
8) What is Customer friendly attitude?
I am getting a firm conviction in my mind that there is an insider’s involvement in the entire transaction and Bank is probably trying to shield the person, taking my helplessness for granted when no one is coming forward to question their findings (kept as confidential).
Visits to CP Branch of icici bank failed to get any positive response.
I am a senior citizen 71 Yrs and the money was credited to my a/c on maturity of my Sr Citizen F.D. with this Bank only. These had been my hard earned savings.
I request you to kindly take the necessary action and help me retrieve the funds.
