We have booked a package tour to Kerala thro’ Make-my-Trip Travel agency against their advt. in the net for two persons, self and for my wife which was scheduled to commence from 20th Oct’2012 and the duration was for 5 Nights and 6 Days. The entire amount towards the cost of the tour Rs 63915/- was paid in advance in two instalments one for booking amount of Rs 25566/-on 06-08-2012 and thereafter before tour commences on 01-10-2012 for Rs 38349/- The amount was paid thro’ net banking and the same was acknowledged by receipt.
A mishap occurred in our family on 14-10-2012 when my mother-in law suddenly expired and the tour was not possible since my wife is also a participant in the tour and the functions for my late mother-in- laws last rites fell during our tour times.
The entire fact was conveyed to the tour operator next day i.e. on 15th Oct’12 and they asked for the documentary evidence( Death certificate) which was sent to them subsequently. We requested them to relocate our trip any time according to their choice after 26th Oct’12. I and my daughter who talked to them have requested them to look the matter sympathecally as this is an unusual case and they told us that they will look for options. Even we requested them that we are ready to pay the cancellation amount if the same is within reasonable limit.
Nothing has happened thereafter and we( me and my daughter, Debasmita) have contacted them thro’ their phone no and e-mail ‘n’ no of times, atleast 20 times. On 6th Nov’12 they came out with a proposal to refund Rs 6000/- only out of Rs 63915/- paid by me towards the cost of the package. The value is even less than 10% of the total package value. They have not cited any reason towards their decision and possibly taking advantage of our helpless situation.
One will understand that a substantial amount is blocked from my end without any fault from us and the attitude of tour operator is extremely casual. The same is not expected from a reputed tour operator like Make-my-Trip and I feel they should show some amount of professionalism in settling the issue.
I earnestly urge you to look into my problem and take all necessary step to settle the issue. For any queries I am ready to cooperate and if you need further any documentation the same shall be provided.
