Defected Furniture

This is with reference to my unsolved complaint no. 539968 which was lodged in September 2011. Kindly recall the whole scenario ie what all unhealthy experiences i had to face just due lack of service quality at “GODREJ”.
First issue arised when i booked the furniture in 30th Nov, 2010. I was assured that the furniture would be delivered and installed within 45 days from the date of order. On Jan 2011 i was asked to make the balance payment of RS.1,04,871/-. While making the payment i was committed that payment is being collected since the furniture is ready for delivery and the process of delivery and installations would be completed within a week. Against all the fake commitments the furniture was delivered almost after 60 days ie it was delivered on Feb 2011.

As soon as the furniture rather garbage in bulk quantity was delivered at my place in corrugated boxes ,the installation (” A big project for the company”) again took almost 15 days. Till that time the test of a customers patience was still to be taken, as soon as the installation persons came at my place and opened the packing we found that the sofa-cum-bed that we got was totally different from what we had booked. Second thing we came to know was that the top cover of the Almira was missing. So great Godrej has been treating its customers. Still that was not the end to the harassment it had to continue.

This time I was assured by MR. Lalit Mangal, store manager (Karol Bagh, New Delhi) that he would personally take up this matter and get the problem rectified within 4-5 days. Still after so many follow ups we got the rectified furniture after 15 days. Till now we were so fed up that we simply refused to accept the furniture. Your AGM Mr. Saurabh and GM Mr. Maninder Singh Ahuja requested me a lot to leave aside the unhealthy experiences and accept the furniture. This was just due to the respect of such highly designated persons that we accepted the furniture. But at the very same time i made it very clear to the officials present that the Dining table was not of the expected quality, it was very low quality material that was delivered.

As expected the quality of table/chairs was actually proved very low and the chairs got broken just after 5 months of use. We had made complaint for the same in Sep 2011 (mentioned above). The service executives came and inspected the furniture and again an assurance was given that we would get the replacement of the broken chairs as it was under warranty period. We got a confirmation call from Godrej customer care , they noted all our details and promised to get the chairs replaced within a week.

After this nothing was done from the company side, neither the furniture was replaced nor it was repaired. Again it was from our side we took up this matter, followed regularly on phone (With cutomer care, Mr. Mangal) , Emails etc. but no response from the company was given. I think i have wasted a lot of precious time on this matter which has been never even taken up by the company. It would have been better if i would have moved this case to the consumer forum and other legal platforms way back, at least with that i would avoided so much wastage of working time.
