SMS Ban/Limit upto 5 per day for the next 15 days

Location/place: Bangalore

Name of company/service: Tata Docomo

Government, Great job. Telecom Companies, Amazing job. Banning of Bulk SMS is acceptable. Bulk refers to higher numbers, usually at one go. Person to Person sms are private and are not sent in bulk. Nobody sends bulk sms to their loved ones :D. Are you people not aware of the differences? I request you to allow unicast sms to go through and broadcast sms to not go through. All the telecom companies, find a way to find an alternative for your customers in situations like these. SMS may not be important to some but is important to many. Keep this in mind or please pay back the money u owe us for the services cut. Also, limiting unicast sms to 5 makes no sense when you can completely cut the service. Remember, a wrong msg could be spread within the given limit of 5 sms. This creates a communication gap and panic among the people who are actually suffering from the riots and not the ones who started it. Never stop/ cut any services as far as communication is concerned. Communication is one of the major things that has kept us alive in this world.

  1. Dear Customer,

As per the directive of Govt of India, a restriction of 5 SMS or 5 MMS per SIM per day has been imposed to all telecom service users for 15 days.

    Thanks and Regards

    Tata DOCOMO.

  2. There is no such restriction by other service providers that only 5 SMS could be sent per day. Its the restriction on bulk SMS. TATA DOCOMO doesn’t have enough discretion to know the difference between the Bulk and normal SMS. Also, I am not able to receive any SMS when my quota of FIVE SMS is over. I thought that the restriction was on sending and not receiving…

    Dear Rama Docomo,

May we know the reason for this limit?

  5. Now you can send only 5 SMS per day for the next 15 days.Because Indian Government has banned more than 5 msgs per day. From 18th August 2012, till 1st of September, you would not be able to send 6th message from your mobile. TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has banned bulk SMS and MMS for Idea, Airtel, Aircel, Vodafone and Docomo.
