Samsung galaxy Note N7000 corning gorilla glass broken when fell from 2.5feets

Hi,
I bought a samsung galaxy note N7000 in aug2012, which is still under warranty. By mistake, the phone fell from a hieght of around 2.5feets and the corning gorrilla glass, which is supposed to be capable of handling weight of a gorrila, got broken. when i contacted sasmung service center, they said its not supposed to be replaced in warranty but then why are they claiming that it will not get broken. Its not at all corning gorilla glass. I contacted samsung, but didn’t get a positive reply, instead they are asking me to change the whole display, not only the outer glass, worth rs.8k.
Please help and suggest what should i do. I am ready to lodge a report against samsung for this.
