Not accepting Cheque/DD in CITI Bank for preclosing the personal loans

I went to citi bank(MG road, Bangalore) for pre closing my personal loan amount and the outstanding amount was 636000. I can’t carry cash with me for such a big amount.So took DD with me, but they were reluctant saying only cash is accepted and for cheque/DD, i need to take appointment prior and some person will come to my mailing address for collecting DD.After that it will take 4 days for clearance. Upto that my interest on loan will be added. On top of that i need to have pre-closure letter, which i can’t go to bank and collect it. I need to place an order over phone to customer care and for sending the pre-closure letter just by mail takes 3 days for them. So totally 7 days of time is gone and i need to pay interest for these many days with no fault of mine.Surprised that banks doesn’t collect cheque/DD.
