Fraud practice by Tata Indicom

Name of company/service: Tata Indicom

I had a Tata Indicom photon connection few years ago. As I was travelling abroad, I raised a request to discontinue the service and however that was not taken care of in due time. Since then I have never used the service and to my knowledge there was nothing that I owed Tata Indicom.

This morning I received a call from a (so called) Information officer of Tis Hazari Court Cell No- 8459373542 and told me that the Tis Hazari Court has a case received against me and I need to talk to the lawyer who has filed the case. He gave me a contact number of advocate Abhishek Varma (#8459113334) and asked me to contact him within next 10-15 minutes to find further details. When I called up the given number, I was told that the advocate sent me two court notices on behalf of Tata Indicom and since I have not responded to the notice, my case is coming up for hearing in the court tomorrow for damages worth 15k. Since its been few years since I lived in my old address, I believed that the matter could be true. When I asked him for an alternative, he suggested that I immediately clear my dues of 1,400 with Tata Indicom and he could do an out of court settlement. As I mentioned since I believed in the matter, I ended up making the online payment.
I also had my own suspicion on this matter and hence did an online search for the given numbers/advocates and found that this is a fraud that other consumers have also experienced. It is such a shame that a reputed company like Tata Indicom ultimately resorts to such ill practices to collect money from the consumers. I strongly recommend strict action against the parties involved and request everyone else to be aware of this for future purposes.

    This fraudulent complaint raised is so true and I am quite sure that this is not a genuine call. I did not fall for it both due to luck and due to wisdom. When the call came to my wife’s phone and she called me, I was in a meeting. I called the given no: and I was asked to make the payment by 5:00pm. They were not willing to give any more details. So asked them to send the legal notice and I would respond. Once done with my meeting, I called back by which time I suspected something wrong. My sense was that a reputed company (one of the companies India is proud of) will not getting into such practices without prior notice. My father being a high court advocated helped. In anycase, to avoid waste of time, I decided to make the payment of Rs1200 hundred mentioned but I genuinely did not have time ( which was the whole game plan of the fraudster as you would realise shortly). Then I asked them to give time till 6:30. The response was that they would give max time till 5:15, to sound genuine and also be impractical ( we were having this conversation around 4:30). Then I said it is very tough. Then comes the real offer: Sir, for customers who cannot make it and those locations where is no online service or ATM we have a facility, we can help you through your Debit or Credit card and you can provide the details. My suspicion got confirmed. Infact their target is people living far from Delhi, busy/uneducated/remote locations. It was a well designed cold-blooded fraud by some group.

    For those interested to know what happened next, I said I would get back with my card details. This time, I get a call back in another 15mins that I did not take and I was back to my work.

    Requesting TATA Indicom to release an ad in the interest of its customers, take steps against them. The no:s I got calls from are also similar and same script. First call claims to be from Delhi High court giving the no: of an advocate.

    I used tata indicom in april 2011 last year and I was charged 14000/- rupees which after adjustment came to 7972/- Rupees. Now the funny thing is that M credit limit is only 2100/- rupees and that too was raised from 1000/- Rupees without any intimation to me nor any approval for the same was given from my side.

    But they raised it and now today after one and a half years later I get a call from an advocate saying that I should pay the 7972/- Ruppes within 2 hours or legal action would be taken. I raised the same point that I had raised to the tata indicom executives regarding the credit limit, and he says that its all technical and that I should pay the amount or pay 150000/- To the court. Also I have read the other complaints, how come a legal notice is sent by e-mail?? it should be sent by post…!! its really disgusting to see a company with tata name doing such kind of things. Its a disgrace.

I have also received a fake call from a person posing as a police officer from Delhi and asking me to pay the sum or else there would be harsh consequences. Is this the way your company works?? contacting a person after 2 years and asking for the amount which was above my credit limit (which was raised by you without any approval from my side). I am really shocked to know that this is a way a TATA company works. I have great respect for Tata, but this way of working is unacceptable.

    Dear Sir/Madame,
    I ‘m also going thru’ the exactly same thing as described above. I was asked to call up Tis Hazari Court Advocate Mr. Rohit Sharma at mob: 8510011390 and he gave me an 1 hr. to pay online. I really smelt something fishy with this. I went online and goggled on legal practices allowed to collection agencies in India. I also found this article exactly similar to me. It just has happened to me about an hour ago. I called up Mr. Rohit Sharma again to get his address which of course he didn’t give and I didn’t pay online. The only reason I’m withholding payment is because I had 3 acts with TATA : (1) Walky Talky (2) Mobile (3) Photon. They have Rs. 3000 as an advance which they promised me that they would pay after 2 months but its been almost 3 months now and I’ve not received it yet. I tell their bill collector exactly the same thing that ASA I receive my money from Tata Indicom, I will pay Rs. 1500 (approx.) I owe. I pay up all the bills I owe.

Just few minutes before I got a call from 9891447331, the person who describes himself as enquiry officer from tis hazari court and wanted me to call another person who according to him was Advocate Rohit Sharma with mobile no 8510011390.Now this so called Rohit sharma told me to deposit my pending bill For tata photon no which i had stop using 8-9 months before, services for the same had been stopped in Jammu and Kashmir. I dont understand why the hell tata is doing such kind of stupid things to get the money from customers…really awful

    I too got several calls like this, claiming to be from Delhi Court.

    Today from +919891447331, and he was threatening like talking from Delhi Court.

    I replied him, if he has guts in father’s a&&&, then do what you can do.

    Idiots.

    All victim should lodge police complain against those numbers and Tata Indicom.

    I just most read of the comments and its no different with what I experienced. I got a call from 9891447331 who spoke in Hindi and did not know english at all. He said he was calling from the INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT . Since he did not know the complete details he asked me to call another # ( rohit Sharma) who is said to be the advocate.
    I have worked for the collections and recoveries deparment. Such practises from TATA is just spoling the image( do they have one?????).

    I had a photon plus connection about three years ago and I paid 2500 for the dongle. In few days before the statement could be generated I got a call from the cust service saying that the bill amount was 2500 which was a shock cuz I was given a free 2GB usage which I didnt cross that limit. when I asked the itemised bill they did not respond and I did not get any call.

    I have no words to abuse them for such cheap act.

    By Shruti Aggarwal from Delhi Legal Aid Society on 28.11.2013 at 2:06, 2:19 and 2:42 PM saying that a case relating to Len-den( money ) which I may have taken is being filed against me at Tis Hazari Court under section 417 ( case no. 60/716) and that I should call Mr. R.K Sharma 9891674058 lawyer of the opposite side to reach a settlement. On confronting the woman she threatened that notices will be issued against me.

    +91 98-91-842740 fraud call from Sakshi at Tis Hazari on 11th Dec at 12:51 P M to which I did not respond.

    Please not that there are no pending dues against me for any Tata Photon number although I own a Tata Photon dongle which I don’t use as it’s service and coverage is pathetic.

    Few days back I got a call from some Mohit Chauhan (Delhi) who claimed to be the in-charge of the process for setting up of 3G towers on the rooftops of various buildings.

    He (Mohit Chauhan) first gave the very detailed plan of the things would work in my interest and offered quiet good money for the same. And insisted that to get that money I first pay Rs. 40,000/- to get the insurance of my building as a precaution against any damage caused by the setting up of a 3G tower.

    As I have not yet given any details or made the payment I wish to confirm whether or not any such operations are authorized by my beloved company?

    Today I got that call. And they says to deposit their amount before 2:00PM. My tatadocomo number was 9041015748. I request to stop this number in Feb 2014 but they still including monthly rent. Mujhe laptop ke liye number data number chahiye tha tatadocomo ne mobile service wala plan activate kar ke de diya. thode din chala phir service nahi aa rahi thi. Feb se maine kabhi use nahi kiya. Aur han feb tak ka bill time time free mein pay kiya.

    I don’t know what to do now… PLZ Help

    i got tata max wifi on 24/7/2014 they told me max wifi has high net speed more than 3mbps nd forced me to buy the product.
    after buying the product i got to knw the true speed of tata max wifi.. trust me i neva saw MBPS speed in my tata max wifi… obv any custmr paying so much for the device would get angry.. i gave many complnt abt the speed.. thy send few ppl to chck my device nd speed… but nothin happnd. i gave a complaint to return my cash back nd stop the service coz there is no gud speed.. there was no one to help me from tata.. now i get calls nd Legal Notice to pay the bill Rs 3204 within 7 days… i neva got the benifits of the service.

    I bought this device in Mid of Dec-14 and since then facing two major issues:
    1. Slow Net speed: The net speed is worst, what it was promised and what I am really getting is like 1/10. Had conveyed to customer service and they are coming up with same reply “Technical Upgradation is in process” since last 5 months. I don’t know what all technical upgradation is going on for so long duration
    2. Discontinued service: The device have got unique issue with its connectivity, it used to get disconnected at every 10-15 minutes terminating my downloads leading to restart again-n-again from ZERO level. This further leads to over usages of my data. There is no answer/ solution available with them and they are asking me to visit their icare which is far away (about 15 km) from my residence. If I need to visit the icare for every hue-n-cry then what is the use of device am having with.
    3. Return Policy: This company comes up with unique “no return policy” though all these issues are genuine and shared with them through various channel including their highest appellate authority.

    Please suggest me the way to return this device as it has costed me enough money to invest in some good options available like MTS, Vodafone etc

    My concern is very recent. I took a tata docomo number last year and they gave me 2 connections and said this is convenient. Although I decided to close the account. I was out of the country for my work. When I came back all the calls started coming.
    First they said it’s 1,800 rs now they are saying it’s 3800 rs. Note: My connection was disconnected ,the incoming and outgoing was blocked so how did the amount increases?
    And how much harassment am I gonna face?
    They have sent me a case number and said to pay up. You guys are going to drag a customer to court because of a mistake that you did?
