My father Late Mr. P. A. Josephkutty, SBI Account Number – 10326942347 Was a Central government retired person from – HVF Avadi Chennai.He served as a Central Govt servant for 35years. His pension account is the same as the above. He had a fixed deposit of 3 lakh with the State Bank of India, East Hill Road, Kozhikode, Kerala – 673005.
After his demise in 12/09/2011 my mother has been recieving his widow pension for almost one and half years now in an account with the same SBI branch. The bank says that my father didnot nominate any one on this Fixed deposit. The bank is now asking my mother to prove that she is his legal wife, asking her to bring the hireship certificate and all other proofs.
My mother being uneducated and taking care of a mentally challenged son is not able to go to all the government offices for all these documents. We still applied for the hireship certificate almost 15months back and we still have not got any reply fron the village and panchayat offices.
I really dont know what more they need . My mother has been recieving the widower pension for almost 16-18months. Her account is also in the same bank.Mummy’s bank details

Is this not enough proof to give that money to her.She has gone to the bank several times.Some times the manager is not there,or there is no positive response.
Is this how the widow of a central government servant is to be treated?
In the first place why did the bank make an FD with out a Nominee?
My mother hardy manages to survive with the pension to take care of herself and my mentally challenged brother. My mother had been facing severe problems with her health after the demise of my father. She has not been able to pay for her medical needs.
Now because of which she has LOST SIGHT ON ONE EYE.If she had this FD money she would have done the operation in time. Now will the bank be able to give her Eye back?
Now she has to take care of my mentally challenged brother with one eye. If she dosen’t get her other eye operated ASAP she will become completly blind.
She is not able to take care of her personal needs (cooking, washing, cleaning). Her life has become so unhygenic. I dont know what more to say? These bank people are heartless. My father used to respect the SBI. He has hardly had assotiation with any other bank all his life. And this is what we get from them.
I don’t know if the bank can give back my mothers eye.
But I want them to deposit that money due to my mother with interest in to her account. And not make her go back and forht for zillions of unrealistic paper work.
